High End Hotel Alternatives In Salzburg During Euro 2008
By Robb Stark

Salzburg is Austria’s fourth largest city with many hotels to choose from during the Euro 2008 championship. Salzburg is famous for its baroque architecture and is a popular place for the skiing vacation. Salzburg’s most famous person you may have heard of, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born here. In this article I will cover some of the more expensive hotels for the high-end savvy traveller or Euro 2008 football freak. The room rates are of course difficult to foresee, and will probably go up during the Euro 2008. Let us just say that if you worry about it then these places are not for you.

The Altstadt Radisson SAS Hotel is located only seven kilometres away from Salzburg International Airport and is very convenient to everything Salzburg has to offer. The hotel has a total of eighty three rooms which all help the visitors relax and feel well treated with style and comfort; after all it is a five star hotel. The hotel is located in the historical centre of Salzburg and all major sightseeing attractions and shopping are within walking distance. The colourful history of this landmark building traces back as far as thirteen hundred and seventy seven when it used to be one of Salzburg's oldest inns. It has been re-modelled into a gem of a hotel with the restaurant Symphonie overlooking the river Salzace. Each room is individually appointed with much care and attention to detail. The hotel keeps the guest’s whole experience in the centre, making sure the comfort and experience levels are met. Make sure to make reservations well ahead of time, I for one will keep a room here during my visit to the Euro 2008.

The Goldener Hirsch Hotel – likely to be fully booked for the Euro 2008 pretty soon - is like very conveniently located as well, only five kilometres from Salzburg International Airport. It boasts a lot of European history within its wall dates all the way back from the year fourteen hundred and seven. From rustically constructed walls to decorative antler ears, this luxury hotel portrays the unique cultural influences of Western Europe. The hotel is also opposite the three Salzburg Festival Houses, placing us in the cultural centre of the city. Located in the Baroque centre of Salzburg, the is next to the famous Gedreidegasse – Salzburg's main shopping street. Praised for its excellent service, the hotel has been named one of the "Top 75 Hotels in Europe" by Condé Nast Traveller. The restaurant in Goldener Hirsch is Salzburg's most elite dining place and features Austrian and International specialties. Whenever I go to Salzburg I always seem to end up here sooner or later. If good wine and excellent food is your thing, go here! The hotel has sixty nine guestrooms with great traditional feel of romance and charm.

An alternative outside of Salzburg is the magnificent Hotel Schloss Fuschl, a legendary

castle dating back to 1450. Trust me, this place is like a fairytale. Overlooking one of Austria’s grandest lakes, Hotel Schloss Fuschl is placed on lush greenery of perfectly kept lawns and landscapes. If you are a guest here you will be treated like royalty and lie in absolute luxury. Take some hours at the SPA, or perhaps a leisurely swim in the peaceful swimming pool, with magnificent views over the lake. You may even use one of their boats to out on the lake. The hotel’s picture perfect ambiance fills each of the one hundred and ten guest rooms, suites and lakeside cottages. Like with all similar hotels around the world, expect prices to be high, especially during the Euro 2008.
